The Mine property is underlain by Early Jurassic volcanics of the Telkwa Formation (Hazelton Group) consisting of andesitic volcanics. Upper Triassic Takla Group volcanics and sediments bound the Hazelton rocks to the east and the west. In the vicinity of the Del and Lou claims, Permian limestone (Asitka Group) is exposed with Permian and/or older shales, quartzites and related metamorphic rocks.
Trenching exposed minor copper mineralization comprised mainly of chalcopyrite with malachite on fractures within the dark green Triassic volcanics.
Work History
The Del and Lou groups totalling 52 claims were held during 1968-69 by Rip Van Mining Ltd. Geophysical and geochemical surveys were carried out. During 1970 the Del 1-54 and Lou 1-8 claims were held by El Paso Mining and Milling Company. A geochemical survey (854 samples) was carried out over the Del 7, 8, 15-20 claims. The property was held in 1972 as the Mine 1-22 claims by W.R. Bacon. Exploration work, carried out under the name Luc Syndicate, included 137 metres of trenching on Mine 5 and 6 claims.
In 2012, an aeromagnetic program was conducted over the Flute and Lennac (093L 190, 191, 243, 338) properties having a total area coverage is 813 square kilometres. Total survey line coverage is 4,444 line kilometres (Assessment Report 33032, 33707F). The Mine occurrence was covered by this survey, near its northeastern boundary.
