Capsule Geology

The DD occurrence is located northwest of the McLeod River and approximately 14.5 kilometres southwest of the community of McLeod Lake.

The area is mainly underlain by weakly metamorphosed Middle to Upper Triassic TakIa Group argillite/shale, marble and siltstone, which are cut by four northwest-trending belts of Upper Triassic to Lower Jurassic ultramafic rocks consisting of black pyroxenite, hornblende pyroxenite and hornblendite. Lesser diorite and granodiorite occur as later, possibly Cretaceous, phases.

Locally, disseminated chalcopyrite and nickeliferous pyrrhotite has been intersected in two drillholes on the DD occurrence area. Minor platinum and palladium mineralization was also found in all three drillholes that were assayed. The mineralization is hosted by an ultramafic dike, which strikes east-west with a vertical dip. Later dioritic intrusive phases with pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite have been intersected in the drilling.

Work History

From 1974 until 1999 regional and local geochemistry surveys along with airborne magnetic and electromagnetic surveys were carried out in the area with much of the work covering the DD claim group. Electromagnetic conductors, described as formational, were discovered on the property. See McDougall River (MINFILE 093J 007) for history and references with respect to Ezekiel Explorations work on its GN property.

David Bridge, P.Geo., staked the property and started work on it in 2000. He discovered tholeiitic mineralization on the Snow #4 claim and carried out hand trenching that exposed variably ankerite- and silica-altered ultramafic rock containing disseminated chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite with assayed values in copper, nickel, cobalt, platinum, palladium and rhodium.

In 2001 and 2002, further work consisted of trenching, grid establishment and soil sampling. The trenching revealed significant mineralization in the form of 0.246 per cent copper, 0.248 per cent nickel, 0.423 gram per tonne palladium and 0.012 gram per tonne rhodium over 6 metres (Assessment Report 27501, page 4).

In 2004, seven trenches, totalling 34.5 metres, were excavated by Almo Capital on the DD claim group. A 5.6-kilometre induced polarization and ground magnetics survey was completed over the Target 1 claim, which occurs within the Snow claims, part of the DD claim group.

In 2006, Almo Capital hand-excavated 27 trenches, totaling 238 metres, and drilled 5 NQ diamond drill holes, totalling 629.27 metres. All of the trenches were chip-channel sampled at 1-metre intervals and assayed. Ultramafic rocks were intersected in all of the trenches. In 2007, ATW Ventures Ltd. completed a soil sampling and trenching program on the area as the Carp property.

During 2012 through 2014, Almo Capital Corp. completed programs of prospecting and geochemical (rock and soil) sampling on the area as the D.D. property.

In 2019, Andris Kikauka prospected and sampled the property. Three closely spaced samples (19DD-2, -3 and -4) yielded 0.065, 0.071 and 0.049 per cent chromium, 0.161, 0.126 and 0.166 per cent nickel, 0.343, 0.268 and 0.342 gram per tonne platinum with 0.448, 0.354 and 0.400 gram per tonne palladium over 1.00, 1.00 and 2.00 metres, respectively, whereas another sample (19DD-7), taken a short distance south-southeast of the previous samples, assayed 0.457 gram per tonne gold and 5 grams per tonne silver over 0.25 metre (Assessment Report 38376).

In 2020 and 2021, Golden Planet Mining Corp. completed a regionally extensive program of prospecting, geological mapping, geochemical (rock, till and soil) sampling and a 4851.0-line-kilometre airborne magnetic and electromagnetic survey on the area as the Rider property. A channel sample assayed 0.585 per cent copper, 0.586 per cent nickel, 3.0 grams per tonne silver and 0.136 gram per tonne gold over 1.0 metre (Assessment Report 39660).
