Capsule Geology

The FREE LANCE showing is located adjacent to Lightning Creek, approximately 29 kilometres west of Wells and 33 kilometres east of Quesnel. The area is underlain by Middle to Upper Triassic sedimentary rocks of the Nicola Group.

The Free Lance vein is located 2.4 kilometre downstream of the Wingdam placer occurrence and is reported to have been exposed, at three different points along its 70 metre strike length, by shallow pits. The main structure is described as being a 0.6 to 1.5 metres wide quartz vein which lies parallel to the bedding and is sparsely mineralized with pyrite and galena and returned only trace amounts of gold and silver (Assessment Report 18558, page 12).

Since acquiring control of CVG Mining Ltd. and the Wingdam project in late 2013, Omineca Mining and Metals has focused on developing a viable mine plan to bring the Wingdam project into production. This work has built upon the successful test bulk sample using freeze technology, completed by CVG in 2012. Omineca's Wingdam project area includes the Free Lance occurrence as well as Wingdam Creek (Minfile 093H086), Rise (Minfile 093H 153) and Wingdam (Minfile 093H 012) along Lightning Creek.

In 2014, airborne LiDAR and orthophoto surveys were completed to resolve accuracy of topographic profiles on the Wingdam property. As well, several geophysical surveys to model buried channel profiles were instigated from 2015 through 2022. In 2020, Omineca commenced programs of exploration across their placer and mineral tenures, including geological mapping and prospecting, silt, soil and rock sampling and diamond drilling. Anomalies in several areas were outlined and prospective quartz veining was encountered in multiple drill holes and in outcrop, particularly in the Ramos Mtn and Wingdam Lake areas.
