Capsule Geology

The Fab 44 occurrence is located about 5 kilometres south of Troitsa Lake approximately 105 kilometres south-southwest of the community of Houston.

The Fab area is underlain by volcanic rocks of the Lower Jurassic Telkwa Formation of the Hazelton Group and andesitic rocks of the Cretaceous Kasalka Group. These are intruded by quartz dioritic rock of the Late Cretaceous Bulkley Plutonic Suite.

At the Fab 44 prospect, a small west-dipping breccia pipe is located along the southeast contact of a quartz diorite intrusion with andesitic tuff of the Hazelton Group. A breccia zone is composed of angular to tabular clasts of quartz diorite, quartz porphyry and hornfelsed argillite in a matrix of coarse grained and vuggy matrix of quartz, calcite, sericite, chalcopyrite, magnetite and minor molybdenite. Variable amounts of galena and sphalerite associated with a late stage of carbonate-kaolinite alteration and vug filling are also present.

In 1972, drilling by Amax on the Fab claims in seven holes was reported to have the best result in an intersection from hole A4 which tested the breccia zone. It was located along the southeast contact of the quartz diorite intrusion with volcaniclastics. It yielded 1.02 per cent copper and 5 grams per tonne silver across 3 metres (Assessment Report 32936).

Much of the work done by Callinan Mines (Callinex) covers ground over or near the locations of all the following Fab showings: Fab (093E 041), Fab 49 (093E 042), Fab 44 (093E 043), Fab 45 (093E 044), and Samuel (093E 104). The Callinex assessment reports provide maps of work done and raw data but do not summarize mineralization or provide information based on discrete zones or showings. The 2102 ZTEM airborne survey covered all the showings of the original Fab group and those of the Troitsa prperty as well, which include: Troitsa (Lake) (093E 003), Troitsa (Main) (093E 005) Troitsa (Cirque) (093E 009), and Troitsa East (093E 129). Work by Callinan in 1987 and later in 2005 shows the Breccia zone location with 1972 Amax drilling and various samples.

Refer to Fab (093E 041) for related geology and property work history details.
