The White Channel Silica occurrence is located to the west of China Cabin Lake, approximately 4 kilometres southwest of the community of Horsefly.
The area is underlain by Lower and Upper Triassic Nicola Group basalts and volcaniclastics. Younger Miocene flood basalts overlie the Jurassic volcanics. Locally, Tertiary silica conglomerate outcrops are found on ridges to the west of China Cabin Lake.
2007 through 2010, Gold Star Resources Corp. completed a series of exploration programs to evaluate the potential of the White Channel deposit materials for silica production.
