The geology of the region consists of Upper Triassic to Lower Jurassic Nicola Group volcanic rocks intruded by the Lower Jurassic Takomkane batholith granodiorite. Plateau basalt of probable Miocene age overlies the Takomkane batholith.
Chalcopyrite and pyrite occur in closely spaced fractures within hornblende granodiorite which outcrops in Woodjam Creek. The age of mineralization is not known but it is likely similar in age to porphyry-type mineralization that occurs elsewhere in the grano- dioritic stocks (i.e. Lower Jurassic).
