Capsule Geology

The SC 3 (South Dome) occurrence is located north of Sprague Creek, approximately 8.4 kilometres southwest of the southwestern end of North Barriere Lake.

The area is underlain by a distinctive, relatively fresh, north-trending sequence of rhyolite lavas and felsic tuffs with interfingering lenses of argillite and chert. The felsic volcanics contain two intrusive/extrusive flow domes located approximately 2 kilometres apart. The domes consist of relatively coarse felsic breccia, debris flows and porphyritic felsic flows. The rocks belong to the Devonian to Permian Fennell Assemblage.

Locally, a rhyolite dome structure with silicified, albitized and sericitized quartz feldspar porphyritic rhyolite contains extensive quartz-pyrite veins and stockworks. Some of the quartz veins host disseminations and stringers of galena, sphalerite and pyrrhotite mineralization. The stockwork zone has been mapped at surface over an area of 250 by 90 metres.

In 1986, a drill hole (Bar No. 3) intersected complex rhyolite flows and tuffs. A 2.52 metre section analysed 4.45 grams per tonne gold, including 30 centimetres of massive pyrite which assayed 134 grams per tonne silver and 18 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 15856). A separate, lower, section of the drillhole yielded 0.242 grams per tonne gold over 13.98 metres (Assessment Report 15856).

In 1987, drilling yielded intersections of up to 7.51 grams per tonne gold over 0.4 metre and 1.79 grams per tonne gold over 1.5 metres in hole Bar-10; 0.71 gram per tonne gold over 16.5 metres, including 3.35 grams per tonne gold over 1.50 metres, in hole Bar-9; 1.23 and 1.39 grams per tonne gold over two 1.5-metre intervals in hole Bar-8; 0.59 gram per tonne gold over 9.0 metres in hole Bar-12 and 109.7 grams per tonne silver, 0.579 per cent copper, 3.82 per cent lead and 4.92 per cent zinc over 0.45 metre, and 1.25 grams per tonne gold over a separate 1.5 metres in hole Bar-11 (Assessment Report 16996).

In 1994, rock samples yielded up to 0.71 gram per tonne gold (Sample 94KB-33; Assessment Report 23816).

In 2013, a two grab samples (13CCMK-33 and 13CCTK-030) assayed 1.119 and 1.007 grams per tonne gold, respectively (Assessment Report 34307).

In 2014, seven rock samples yielded from 2.2 to 5.9 grams per tonne (Sample 13CCTK059; Assessment Report 34982).

In 1981, Craigmont Mines examined the area as the CH claims and completed a ground geophysical survey. During 1984 through 1986, Corporation Falconbridge Copper conducted programs of geological mapping, rock and soil sampling and four diamond drill holes, totalling 518.9 metres, on the area as the Anna and SC group of claims.

In 1987, Minnova Inc. completed eight diamond drill holes, totalling 829.3 metres, and a 36.5 line-kilometre ground electromagnetic survey on the area as the SC and Anna claims. Also, at this time Minnova completed a program of rock sampling, geological mapping and a 15.0 line-kilometre ground electromagnetic survey on the area immediately southeast as the FY 2 claim.

In 1994, the KB claims were staked over part of the expired SC claims and a program of soil and rock sampling and geological mapping was carried out by Eighty-Eight Resources Ltd.

In 2010 and 2011, Shenul Capital Inc. completed programs of rock and soil sampling, geological mapping, ground geophysical surveys on the area as part of the Chu Chua property. In 2013 and 2014, First American Gold Corp. completed programs of rock and soil sampling, prospecting and geological mapping on the area.
