The HOM occurrence location is known only very approximately, being 6 kilometres east-northeast of Homathko Peak on lower alpine slopes of the Homathko River Valley and 9 kilometres southwest of the southern end of Tatlayoko Lake. It lies approximately 184 kilometres southwest of Williams Lake. As part of the Homathko property, it is in the same area as the Chopper (Minfile 092N068) showing, 5.8 kilometres west; the Discovery Creek (Minfile 092N049) prospect, 6.7 kilometres west; and the Morris (Minfile 092N002) prospect, 6.8 kilometres east.
Very little information is available (Minister of Mines Annual Report 1965). Geologically, the occurrence is situated in a Late Triassic to Cretaceous Eastern Waddington thrust belt imbricate zone consisting of structurally interleaved slices of metamorphic rocks unit lKCD, lKO, uTrMo, uTrlm, uTrsv, uTrMM. The imbricate zone is in fault contact with mafic volcanic rocks of the Upper Triassic Mount Moore Formation about 1 kilometre north of the MINFILE plot.
The thrusting has resulted in the interleaving of Upper Triassic volcanic units comprising mainly andesitic pyroclastics and flows and sedimentary units of mainly shale, sandstone and conglomerate. The thrusts strike east and dip south; the strata within them apparently strike northeast and dip moderately southeast.
The presence of gold and silver is related to arsenopyrite, pyrite and chalcopyrite mineralization in fissure veins. Field investigations in 2011 identified the presence of arsenopyrite hosted by quartz carbonate in tonalite, but it is unclear whether or not the sampled material is the same referred to in Minfile 092N 023.
In 2010, Transition Metals Corp. staked the property and completed prospecting and mapping in 2010 and 2011. Further prospecting and mapping work was completed in 2011 and 2012 by Transition Metals in areas not previously evaluated and in areas proximal to the Discovery occurrence. Thirteen rock samples were collected for assay (Assessment Report 34198).
In 2015 a lineament and hyperspectral study was conducted by the Company using satellite imagery (Assessment Report 35546). In 2017, on the Homathko property 9 rock samples were collected by operator Shamrock Resources and owner Transition Metals Corporation in the Discovery Creek prospect area (Assessment Report 37245).
In 2020, site visits were made to the Homathko property for due diligence mapping and sampling in preparation for an NI43-101 Technical Report. Magnetometer and radiometric surveys (1055 line-kilometres) were flown over the property in 2021. Magnetic trends and potential structures were identified associated with the Discovery Creek prospect, Homathko Peak area, and near the historic Morris prospect. Radiometric data identified a unique localized high in the historic Morris prospect (Minfile 092N002), approximately 13 kilometres east of the Discovery Creek prospect (Assessment Report 40126). In 2023, Aurum Lake Mines was hired by Transition Metals Corp.to acquire new remote sensing data and integrate it with historical data sets to produce numerical models. The model highlighted the known mineralized areas along the projected mineralized quartz-feldspar porphyry as the main exploration target and identified an area in the far east end of the property (east of the Morris prospect) as a priority target.
