Capsule Geology

The Lemare 1 occurrence is located on the north side Le Mare Lake, approximately 2.2 kilometres from the coast.

The area is underlain entirely by Lower Jurassic Bonanza Group intermediate to felsic volcanic flows and pyroclastics that have undergone regional low-grade zeolite and laumontite grade meta- morphism. Dark green andesite flows, dacite lapilli tuffs and rhyodacite crystal tuff are intruded by sporadic andesite dykes and bisected by steeply dipping faults.

Chalcopyrite, pyrite, sphalerite, malachite and azurite, associated with fractures, are present for 600 metres along a road cut. Assays range from 0.2 to 1.4 per cent copper (Assessment Report 8593). Similar mineralization was located on a road cut 400 metres to the southeast.

Work History

In 1979 the Le Mare claims were staked, and the following year prospected by Brinco. In 1998, Phelps Dodge completed a program of prospecting on the Lem property. In 2007, Homegold Resources completed a program of prospecting and geochemical sampling on the Farwest claims. During 2008 through 2012, New Destiny Mining completed various programs of geological mapping, prospecting and geochemical sampling on the Le Mare claims. In 2014, a small program of geological mapping, prospecting and examination of workings was conducted by J.T. Shearer, the property owner. In 2016, J.T. Shearer completed a further program of geological mapping on the Le Mare property. The property was examined in 2017 by W.B. Lennan on the behalf of Le Mare Gold Corp. Also at this time, J.T. Shearer completed a minor program of rock sampling and a 6.1 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey on the Le Mare property. In 2020, J.T. Shearer completed a minor program of rock sampling and a 5.8 line-kilometre induced polarization survey on the Le Mare property.
