The Mac occurrence is located on high slopes over looking Kinman Creek to the south, approximately 5.5 kilometres east of the creek mouth on Nimpkish Lake.

North striking carbonates and calcareous sediments of the Quatsino and Parson Bay formations overlie Karmutsen Formation tholeiitic basalts, all of the Upper Triassic Vancouver Group. Lower Jurassic Bonanza Group andesitic to rhyodacitic lava, tuff, breccia and minor sediments are coeval with, or genetically related to, granodiorite of the Nimpkish batholith of the Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite. Strong regional north to northwest trending faults, often defining intrusive and lithological contacts, traverse the area.

Locally, a few small magnetite seams, up to 1.25 centimetres wide, occur in barren limestone near a granodiorite contact. The area corresponds with anomalous dip needle readings and an airborne magnetic anomaly (Assessment Report 249).

In 1958, New Jersy Zinc completed a 7.7 kilometres dip needle survey on the area as the Mac claims. During 2001 through 2006, Omya St. Armand Limited explored the area as the CDH claims. This work centered on the limestone and marble potential of the area.
