Capsule Geology

The Rossland occurrence is located in the west of Goquaw Creek, approximately 2.5 kilometres southwest of the Creek mouth.

The area is underlain by Lower Jurassic Bonanza Group andesitic to rhyodacitic lava, tuff and breccia.

Locally, galena and chalcopyrite mineralization are reported.

Work History

The area was originally explored in the early 1900’s by a 1.2 metre tunnel and 4 open cuts (Minister of Mines Annual Report 1906, page 200). In 1989, Teck Explorations completed a program of geochemical sampling and ground electromagnetic and magnetic surveys on the area. In 2013, J.R. Billingsley completed a program of geological mapping and structural analysis on the area as the Quatsino King property.
