The Scrutor Gold occurrence is located on Young Creek, 2.5 kilometres north of Artlish River and approximately 5.0 kilometres east of the head of Tahsish Inlet.
The area is underlain by Lower Jurassic Bonanza Group volcanic rocks. Albitized porphyritic, brecciated dacite is interbedded with massive andesite, trachytic porphyritic amygdaloidal andesite and tuff. The units have undergone some deformation and bear evidence of greenschist-amphibolite grade metamorphism.
Locally, two types of mineralization occur:
1.) A rhyolite breccia hosts disseminated pyrite. In 1985, rock sampling yielded values up to 8.75 grams per tonne gold over 1.0 metre (sample 63; Assessment Report 14618).
2.) Two well-defined vertically dipping vein-shear zones, 30 metres apart and striking 140 degrees host pyrite, pyrrhotite, sphalerite and chalcopyrite. In 1985, rock samples assayed up to 2.46 per cent copper, 46.2 grams per tonne silver and 4.5 grams per tonne gold (sample 50, Assessment Report 14618). In 1989, rock sampling yielded up to 13.6 grams per tonne gold, 12.8 grams per tonne silver and 2.06 per cent copper (samples 459 and 563; Assessment Report 19821).
In 2010, two grab samples yielded values of 9.527 and 9.876 grams per tonne gold with 1.961 and 0.92 per cent copper, respectively (Assessment Report 31961).
Work History
The occurrence was first explored by A.W. and J. Young in 1946 by a series of cuts and adits on narrow shears and veins exposed near the creek bed. During 1985 through 1987, MineQuest Exploration completed programs of geological mapping and geochemical sampling on the area as the Scrutor 1-4 claims. In 1989, the area was prospected by Lone Trail Prospecting Limited. In 1998, Rex Ventures completed a program of rock sampling. In 2007, Grande Portage Resources completed a prospecting program of geological mapping and rock and soil sampling. During 2010 through 2014, Goldenlode Resources completed programs of geological mapping, prospecting and geochemical sampling on the area as the Tahsish One claim.
