The GLACIER ISLAND showing, approximately 3.3 kilometres north-northwest of Salal Peak, is part of the Salal property. The site is approximately 41.3 kilometres west-southwest of Gold Bridge and 80 kilometres northwest of Pemberton, B.C.
Mineralization consists of abundant, fine-grained molybdenite occurring in quartz-sericite-pyrite veins.
Highlights of the 2010-2011 sampling programs include three grab samples from the Glacier Island area, which assayed 1.155, 1.115 and 0.290 per cent molybdenum (Assessment Report 32913b and 33341).
From 1965 to 1966, Southwest Potash Corp. optioned the property and staked additional ground. They then completed a program of surveying, geological mapping, reconnaissance geochemistry and diamond drilling. This program produced a 50 kilogram bulk sample from blast trenching in the Glacier Island area that assayed 0.68 per cent molybdenum, while a 6.1 metre chip sample from the trench assayed 1.98 per cent molybdenum (Assessment Report 709). In 2007 and 2008, Paget Minerals conducted small exploration programs to confirm past accounts of mineralization on the Salal property. Work included mapping and rock sampling in the Mud Lake and Logan Ridge area in the northern section of the property.
In early 2010, Miocene Metals Ltd. conducted airborne geophysical surveys over the Salal property. In late 2010 and throughout 2012, Miocene Metals Ltd. completed extensive programs of sampling, prospecting, mapping and four diamond drill holes on the Salal property. During this period, several new discoveries of molybdenum mineralization were made in the Glacier Island area, where glacial recession has occurred. In 2022, minor soil and silt sampling and drone photogrammetric surveys were conducted in areas of the Salal property for R. Billingsley.
