The Texas showing occurs to the north of Pemberton near the confluence of the Birkenhead River and Texas (or Tenas) Creek.
The area is underlain by volcanic rocks of the Upper Triassic Cadwallader Group, here consisting mainly of andesitic lapilli tuff and lithic tuff with interbedded andesite flows, argillite and rhyolite. Granodiorite of the Jurassic to Tertiary Coast Plutonic Complex outcrops in the western part of the area.
Mineralization consists of up to 15 per cent disseminated pyrite within argillically and propylitically altered volcanic rocks. Layered epidote-chlorite skarn containing chalcopyrite and minor sphalerite also occurs. Gold and silver are associated with skarn mineralization.
In 1994, the area was explored as part of the Bank claims of Donegal Developments. Exploration work included prospecting, geological mapping, geochemical and geophysical surveys. The area was explored as the Tex property in 2002 with 243 metres of diamond drilling in four holes. In 2007 through 2011, Homegold Resources completed various programs of geological mapping, geochemical sampling and prospecting.
In 2002, drilling encountered several mineralized zone including 3.99 grams per tonne gold over 3 metres from 3.05 to 6.10 metres and 2.41 grams per tonne gold over 5.5 metres from 0.61 to 6.1 metres from drill hole Tex-02-04 (Assessment Report 27026).
