Capsule Geology

The Standard property is located approximately 17 kilometres southeast of Bralorne, along Standard Creek at McGillivray Pass. Extensive splays and cross faults of the Bralorne fault system are spatially related to mineral occurrences in the Bridge River mining camp.

The Standard property straddles the Bralorne fault and is underlain on the west by Upper Triassic Cadwallader Group, Noel Formation metasediments, in contact with Mississippian to Jurassic Bridge River Complex (Group) metavolcanics, to the east. Bridge River metasediments, consisting of chert, phyllitic argillite, andesite and andesitic tuffs, and Noel Formation argillites, strike northwest and dip northeast. In the vicinity of the showing, diorite of the Bralorne Igneous Complex and President Ultrabasics (serpentinite and peridotite) (correlative with the Permian and older Shulaps Ultramafic Complex) intrude the metavolcanics and metasediments.

The Standard crosscut adit encountered networks of quartz veining with pyritized wallrock (chert and argillite). A zone of intensely sheared and talc-altered serpentinite contains northwest striking quartz-carbonate veins (listwanites) carrying pyrite, arsenopyrite, abundant mariposite and occasional realgar, molybdenite and argentiferous galena. Visible gold was reported by Cairnes (1937) from a quartz vein exposed in a trench located to the southeast of the adit (Geological Survey of Canada Memoir 213). Clothier (1933) reported grades averaging 4.29 grams per tonne gold over 21 metres within the adit (Minister of Mines Annual Report 1933, page 273). Rehabilitation of the adit, combined with further drifting, crosscutting and diamond drilling, has not extended the gold zone. Historically reported values were based on word of mouth and have never been confirmed by the authors of government reports (Assessment Report 16725).

Work History

By the ear 1930’s, a number of trenches and two adits had been developed on the Standard occurrence. The No. 1 adit was developed for 3.7 metres, while the main No. 2 adit was developed for 204.2 metres. The short No. 1 adit is located approximately 1000 metres north west of the No. 2 adit in an area referred to as the Standard West zone.

During 1980 through 1982, Hillside Energy explored the area and completed programs of soil sampling. In 1984, Trans Atlantic Resources Inc. acquired the property and during 1984 through 1986, in conjunction with A & M Exploration, completed program of geochemical sampling, geophysical surveys, rehabilitation of the No. 2 adit and three drill holes. In 1987, Trans Atlantic and Armeno Resources Inc. completed a further program of geochemical sampling, ground electromagnetic and magnetic surveys, sampling and mapping of the No. 2 adit and drilling a series of diamond drill holes along strike and down dip of the No. 2 adit.

In 2006, Covenant Resources Ltd. examined the area as the Piebiter property. In 2007 and 2008, airborne ZTEM surveys were completed on the area. In 2009, a MMI soil sampling program was completed. In 2011, Worthington Resources Ltd. completed a 408.5 line-kilometre airborne ZTEM survey on the area as the Royalle property.
