The Stump (Discovery vein or DDHSL-12-06) occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1160 metres on a north-facing slope, 300 metres north of Anderson Lake and approximately 40 kilometres northeast of Merritt.
The area is underlain by andesite, ignimbrite and basalt of the Late Triassic Nicola Group and by monzonite and schists of the Neogene or Paleogene Nicola Horst Group.
Locally, mineralization occurs in a fault zone containing fine, disseminated pyrite in carbonate-quartz breccia that shows evidence of being a multi-episodic epithermal vein system. A second zone of mineralization, referred to as the Goff zone, is located approximately 550 metres to the northwest and comprises quartz-calcite veins hosting gold values.
Work History
In 2006 and 2007, Totem Minerals Inc. completed programs of prospecting, geological mapping and geochemical (rock and soil) sampling on the area as the Goff zone of the Microgold property. A sample (N7-06) of quartz-calcite veining from the Goff zone assayed 1.238 grams per tonne gold (Shearer, J.T. [2007-07-31]: Microgold Project).
In 2011, Commander Resources Ltd. completed an exploration program of geological mapping, induced polarization and magnetometer surveys and a soil geochemistry survey on the Stump Lake property, locating gold-in-soil anomalies up to 0.317 parts per million (Assessment Report 32753).
In 2012, Commander Resources Ltd. completed a 10-hole diamond drilling program totaling 2073 metres. Highlights of this program include drillhole DDHSL-12-06, with a reported assay value of 4.11 grams per tonne gold over 0.55 metre (Assessment Report 33180).
