Capsule Geology

The BR 3 occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1160 metres on a southwest-trending ridge, approximately 1.2 kilometres east of the east end of Hamilton Lake.

The area is underlain by volcanic assemblages of the central belt of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group. Locally these consist of red to green augite-plagioclase porphyritic andesite and basalt flows striking northeast and dipping 35 degrees to the east. The volcanics are intruded by comagmatic diorite stocks and plugs.

Locally, at the BR 3 zone, mineralization comprises chalcopyrite, cuprite and magnetite in epidote-quartz-chlorite altered augite-plagioclase porphyritic andesite and basalt flows.

In 1990, a rock sample (30595) from an area of historic trenching on the BR 3 zone assayed 0.163 per cent copper (Assessment Report 20977).

Another zone of mineralization, referred to as the Ponderosa zone, is located approximately 600 metres northeast of the BR 3 zone and comprises chalcopyrite, malachite and azurite mineralization in epidote-quartz-chlorite altered augite-plagioclase porphyritic andesite and basalt flows.

In 2014, two samples (7617 and 7618) from the Ponderosa zone yielded 0.360 and 0.108 per cent copper (Assessment Report 35198).

A third zone of mineralization is located approximately 1.2 kilometres southeast of the BR 3 zone and comprises chalcopyrite, bornite, pyrite and magnetite in epidote-quartz-chlorite–altered augite-plagioclase porphyritic andesite and basalt flows.

Work History

In 1976, B.R. Resources Ltd. completed a program of geological mapping on the area as the BR 1-3 claims of the Hamilton Hill property. Prior to this, a program of stripping and trenching is reported to have been completed.

In 1980 and 1981, Pumper Petroleum Inc., Celeste Resources Ltd. and Devon Industries Inc. completed programs of prospecting, geological mapping and ground electromagnetic surveys on the area immediately south of the occurrence as the RB claims.

In 1987, the area immediately east of the occurrence was prospected as the Snow Devil claims.

In 1990, Geoffrey Goodall completed a program of rock and soil sampling on the area as the Lund claims.

In 2013, Dot Resources Ltd. completed a 5.2 line-kilometre ground electromagnetic survey on the area as the Cube property.

In 2014, Tech-X Resources Ltd. completed a program of geological mapping and rock sampling on the area as the Augusta claims of the Nicola Lake property. The following year, a 12.0 line-kilometre induced polarization survey was completed.
