Capsule Geology

The Dor occurrence is located 1.8 kilometres northeast of Courtney Lake, approximately 18.3 kilometres southeast of Merritt.

The area is underlain by Upper Triassic pyroxene and plagioclase-rich andesitic and basaltic flows, breccia, conglomerate and lahar deposits, and comagmatic dioritic intrusions. These are part of the central belt of the Nicola Group which are locally overlain by Pleistocene vesicular olivine valley basalts. The property lies along the Summers Creek-Quilchena fault system, which trends north-northeast and has been mapped for greater than 160 kilometres.

Copper mineralization on the Dor occurrence is hosted by red volcanic breccia, lahar deposits and brecciated augite porphyritic andesitic flows. Three shallow shafts less than 3 metres deep expose north-trending shear or fracture zones carrying calcite and quartz stringers with chalcopyrite, chalcocite and malachite. The sulphides also occur on fracture surfaces and as fine disseminations in the brecciated andesite. Relatively heavy hematite and/or epidote alteration is associated with the mineralization.

In 1989, rock samples from old adits and workings assayed up to 0.12 per cent copper (Prospectus, Redding Gold Corporation).

In 2004, samples (129103, 129105 and 129103) from No. 1, 2 and 3 adits yielded 0.499, 1.215 and 0.773 per cent copper, respectively (Assessment Report 27549).

Work History

A number of historical trenches and at least three adits, likely dating to the early 1900s, are reported in the occurrence area.

During 1970 through 1972, Tanjo Mines Ltd. completed programs of geological mapping, soil sampling and ground geophysical (induced polarization, self-potential, magnetic and electromagnetic) surveys on the area as the Dor claims. In 1977, Quintana Minerals Corp. completed a program of prospecting, sampling and a 12.0 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey on the area immediately northeast of the occurrence as the Grassland and Axedental claims.

In 1981, W.G. Timmins Exploration and Development Ltd. completed an airborne magnetic and electromagnetic survey on the area as the DOR, OC, RB and TP claims. In the late 1980s Redding Gold Corp. explored the occurrence area.

In 2001, the Douglas Lake Cattle Co. staked the area and completed a limited program of geological mapping and geochemical sampling in 2002. In 2004, G. Diakow prospected and sampled the area as the Fox and Loon claims of the Double Loon property.

The claims were re-staked in 2005 and 2006 by R. Billingsley, G. Richards and G. Diakow. In 2007, Etna Resources Inc. completed a 366 line-kilometre airborne geophysical survey on the area as the Aspen Grove property. In 2009, a further program of geological mapping, soil sampling and 48.8 line-kilometres of ground magnetic and induced polarization surveys were completed on the property.

In 2013, New Chris Minerals Ltd. completed a program of rock and soil sampling on the area as the Aspen Grove property on behalf of Richard Billingsley. In 2017, Cazador Explorations Ltd. completed a 145.0 line-kilometre airborne magnetic survey on the property.
