The PL (L.P. 2 Fraction) occurrence is located southeast of Winney Creek, north of the Nicola River and approximately 14 kilometres northwest of Merritt.
Regionally, the area lies near the southeast perimeter of the Lower Jurassic Guichon Creek Batholith, which intrudes Upper Triassic Nicola Group volcanic and sedimentary rocks. To the east, Upper Cretaceous Kingsvale Group volcanic flow rocks unconformably overlie the Nicola Group.
The occurrence area is underlain by quartz diorite mapped as the pre-Guichon Coyle stock (Map 30). Approximately 1000 metres to the north it intrudes mixed volcanic and sedimentary Nicola Group rocks. The stock is cut by dikes and by oxidized north- and northwest-trending faults.
Locally, a highly sheared zone is iron and copper stained. Copper sulphides and magnetite are evident.
In the early 1960s, drilling on the L.P. No. 2 Fraction, located approximately 1 kilometre to the southeast of the PL occurrence, is reported to have intercepted magnetite, specularite, chalcopyrite and bornite mineralization yielding intercepts including 4.60 per cent copper over 3.6 metres in hole no. 1; 2.71 per cent copper over 4.5 metres in hole no. 2; 2.22, 2.06 and 0.89 per cent copper over 6.0, 6.0 and 27 metres, respectively, in hole no. 4 and 1.30 per cent copper over 3.3 metres in hole no. 10 (Property File – 10486 and 10488).
Work History
In 1958, a 68.5 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey was completed on the area as the P.L. 1-48 claims. This work identified five distinct magnetic anomalies. Also at this time, Centennial Mines Ltd. completed a program of geological mapping and a 41.5 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey on the area as the Cap and PCM claims and Georgian Mining Ind. completed a 15.0 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey on the area as the Sam claims.
In 1960, Britmont Mines completed a program of geological mapping and soil sampling on the area as the PCM claims. In 1962 and 1963, Hurley River Mines Ltd. completed approximately a dozen drill holes on the area as the P.L. and L.P. claims. In 1969, London Pride Silver completed a program of soil sampling, geological mapping and 44.0 line-kilometres of ground magnetic and induced polarization surveys on the area as the Pride property.
In 2013, Dot Resources Ltd. completed a ground electromagnetic survey on the area as the Promontory Hills property. The following year, a program of geological photo interpretation was completed.
In 2015, the PL occurrence was covered by the Promontory Hills property owned by Guy and Christopher Delorme. That year, a 10.7 line-kilometre magnetometer survey was carried out over two claims covering the PL and Sid (MINFILE 092ISE137) occurrences. In 2016, Christopher Delorme completed an 8 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey on the Promontory Hills property.
