The Pop occurrence is located on the lower northern slopes of Cheam Mountain, 1 kilometre south of the Fraser River and at an approximate elevation of 200 metres.
The area is underlain by pelites and sandstones of the Triassic and/or Jurassic Cultus Formation, which in turn overlie volcaniclasitic sediments, limestone and volcanics of the Devonian to Permian Chilliwack Group. These rocks are intruded by the Miocene Mount Barr Batholith, which is composed of granodiorite and quartz diorite.
Locally, a quartz vein hosts copper and gold values. In 1984, a rock sample (F-1) assayed 0.153 per cent copper and 0.27 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 13222).
In 1973, work was apparently performed at this location on the Lucky claims, where iron, copper and zinc mineralization were noted at a limestone-granite contact. In 1984, the area was prospected and sampled as the Pop claims. During 1989 through 1991, the area was prospected by New Global Resources. In 1996 and 1999, the area was prospected as the Wahleach 1-12 claims.
