The various old workings of the Duffy showing are situated on the steep east bank of Hedley Creek, 1.5 to 2 kilometres northeast of Hedley.
The region northeast of Hedley is underlain by a sequence of interbedded limestone, siltstone and argillite of the Upper Triassic Hedley Formation (Nicola Group), which are intruded by stocks, dykes and sills of diorite and gabbro of the Early Jurassic Hedley Intrusions.
Sulphides are reported to occur as a replacement in limestone (skarn?) of the Hedley Formation. A chip sample, 1.8 metres long, taken from a 6-metre long tunnel on the Reno claim (Lot 845), assayed 1.7 grams per tonne gold, 5.1 grams per tonne silver and 0.46 per cent copper, and a grab sample from the Copper World claim (Lot 695), to the north, assayed 7.9 grams per tonne gold, 37.4 grams per tonne silver and 1.16 per cent copper (Minister of Mines Annual Report 1926, page 217).
