The Shoreline occurrence is located on the southeast shore of Bedwell Sound, approximately 15.5 kilometres northeast of Tofino.
The area is underlain by Paleozoic Sicker Group sediments and volcanics. These are overlain by Upper Triassic Vancouver Group rocks consisting of Karmutsen Formation volcanics and Quatsino Formation limestone. Stocks of the Jurassic Island Intrusions consisting of granodiorite to quartz diorite intrude the strata. An assemblage of rocks belonging to the pre-Jurassic Westcoast Complex also occurs in the area. The assemblage consists of gneiss, amphibolite, agmatite, and quartz diorite or tonalite. This complex is considered to be derived from Sicker and Vancouver group rocks that were magmatized in the early Jurassic. Its mobilized granitoid part is thought to have become the source of the Jurassic Island Intrusions.
Locally, a quartz vein, a few centimetres wide, with some malachite in the volcanic wall rock occurs on the Shoreline Claim.
In 1990, W. Guppy staked and prospected the Mariner 1-2, Shoreline and Gold Coast claims. A sample of mineralized quartz and wall rock assayed 1530 parts per million copper, 2613 parts per million lead, 3180 parts per million zinc, 14.4 parts per million silver and 1020 parts per billion gold (Assessment Report 21326).
