The Kite Lake Vein is located on a ridge separating Lucky Creek and an unnamed tributary to the east of Kite Lake.
The area is underlain by metavolcanic rocks of the Upper Triassic Karmutsen Formation, Vancouver Group. These consist of massive mafic flows that may be amygdaloidal, fine grained or brecciated. Dikes and/or sills of granodiorite, feldspar porphyry and quartz feldspar porphyry outcrop in the area and likely belong to the Early to Middle Jurassic Island Intrusions.
Locally, a complex vein some tens of centimetres wide and extending the length of the outcrop, approximately 2 metres, and showing zoning and abundant carbonate gangue occurs.
The occurrence has been explored in conjunction with the Lucky and Triple Creek occurrences (MINFILE 092F 034 and 092F 535), respectively, by Electrum Resource Corporation. In 2011, grab sample L11MS044 assayed 5.11 grams per tonne gold and 0.267 per cent copper (Assessment Report 32862).
