The YOU (L.1646) occurrence is located north of You Creek, approximately 1 kilometre east of its junction with the Bedwell River.

The area is underlain by a batholith, composed primarily of quartz diorite, of the Early to Middle Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite. The known ore deposits in the region appear to be localized along the contact or margins of the quartz diorite.

The You deposit is a vein-type fissure filling in a sheared andesitic dike intruded into a faulted section of the quartz diorite. The shear zone, which hosts the veins, is intermittently exposed over a strike length of 1250 metres and a vertical range of 660 metres. The vein strikes 060 degrees and dips in its eastern half at approximately 85 degrees to the south; in its western half the vein dips steeply to the north. The vein varies in width from 7 to 60 centimetres but averages approximately 15 to 24 centimetres. The vein has been examined by a main drift for 103 metres and by a small stope 64 metres from the portal. Another adit, approximately 2 metres long and 37 metres lower in elevation, was also completed. The total length of the vein is 170 metres.

In the southerly exposures of the vein, the dike is not present and may have either pinched out or diverged. In the main tunnel the vein follows the contact of the dike and the quartz diorite. The vein is in the central portion of the dike and the veins widest portion occurs here. The dike measures from 0.3 to 3 metres in width.

The vein consists of quartz and some carbonate irregularly mineralized with sulphides. The sulphides occur as bands in parts of the vein, and locally in some unbanded parts they form high percentages of the total vein; however, most of the vein contains little sulphide mineralization. The sulphides include pyrite with lesser amounts of sphalerite and galena and minor amounts of chalcopyrite, bornite and arsenopyrite. The presence of free gold and tetrahedrite have been reported and microscopic studies of the ore have shown pyrrhotite to be present as well. Only pyrite appears in the wall rock.

One sample of well- mineralized vein, approximately 20 centimetres in width assayed 145.37 grams per tonne gold and 178.29 grams per ton silver. Another sample, also well mineralized, assayed 40.45 grams per tonne gold and 30.86 grams per tonne silver across 29 centimetres (Bulletin 8). An average value of the shoot was calculated at 28.11 grams per tonne gold over a width of 46 centimetres (Cohen, 1961). Detailed sampling of the entire length of the main drift (103 metres) is reported to have yielded 42.82 grams per tonne gold over a 0.25 metre width (Property File - N.C. Carter [2000-06-19]: Re: Bedwell, You 1-8, Sharon Mae Expropriated Mineral Claims, Strathcona Park).

Another two narrow gold bearing veins are reported 200 metres northwest of the main vein. The veins are exposed 60 metres apart and are believed to be part of an east-northeast structure parallel to the main vein. Sampling of the veins yielded from 0.70 to 103.72 grams per tonne gold over an average width of 0.10 metre (Property File - N.C. Carter [2000-06-19]: Re: Bedwell, You 1-8, Sharon Mae Expropriated Mineral Claims, Strathcona Park).

The area was originally explored in 1912 and four claims (Ex, Ten, You and Eight) were crown granted in 1921. During this time and prior to 1933, 105 metres of underground drifting was completed on the vein, mainly on one adit. A second, 2- metre long, adit is located approximately 37 metres below the main. Minor stoping and a 9.1 tonne per day mill were also completed during this time but no records of production are given. During 1984 through 1987, Kilo Gold Mines completed programs of soil and stream sediment sampling, geological mapping and prospecting in the area.
