The K 18 occurrence is located near the shoreline, west of Refuge Cove and approximately 3.1 kilometres north west of Sharp Point.
The area is underlain by high grade metamorphic volcanic rocks of the Paleozoic- Mesozoic Westcoast Complex (Geological Survey of Canada, Map 1537A). These have been intruded by diorite of the Eocene Catface Intrusions.
Locally, an epidote-altered andesite hosts a 6 to 10 metre wide shear zone striking northwest and dipping steeply east. It has been traced for at least 30 metres. Chalcopyrite occurs within the zone as stringers and lenses up to 10 centimetres wide. A selected sample assayed 0.6 per cent copper and 0.55 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 3750).
In 1972, Florex Mining completed a program of geological mapping, rock and soil sampling and a ground magnetic survey on the area as the K claims.
