The Iron Horse showing is located in the head waters of Widow Creek, approximately 5.6 kilometres north of the community of Youbou.
The area, within the Cowichan uplift, is underlain by Mississippian to Pennsylvannian Fourth Lake Formation (Buttle Lake Group) sediments and Upper Triassic Karmutsen Formation (Vancouver Group) volcanic rocks, which have been intruded by dioritic to granodioritic rocks of the Early to Middle Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite.
In 2006, a single sample of quartz vein material containing chalcopyrite mineralization returned 16.54 per cent iron, 2452 parts per million copper, 1.9 parts per million silver and 28 parts per billion gold (Assessment Report 29321).
