The John 1 claim is located in the head waters of Rosemond Creek on Jordan Ridge.
The area is underlain by basalt of the Eocene Metchosin Volcanics. The volcanics are cut by a series of steeply dipping dyke-like bodies of gabbro, thought to be comagmatic and coeval with the volcanics, belonging to the Sooke Gabbro intrusions.
Locally, a large chloritized alteration zone bearing minor native copper has been identified by diamond drilling.
A selected rock sample taken on the John 1 claim in 1976 was reported to have assayed 0.4 per cent copper and 0.34 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 12612, page 1).
From 1980 to 1984, Kargen Development Corp. completed exploration programs of geochemical sampling, geological mapping, magnetometer and vector pulse electromagnetic surveys and minor diamond drilling.
