The Yreka showing is located on the eastern flank of Mount Richards, approximately 2.3 kilometres south- south west of Crofton.

The area is underlain by volcanics of the Upper Devonian McLaughlin Ridge Formation, Sicker Group, reported to be altered to schists in the area. Intruding the country rocks is quartz feldspar porphyry of the Late Devonian Saltspring Intrusive Suite (formerly the Saltspring Intrusions). Gold and silver values are also reported.

Locally, a shear zone hosts copper mineralization.

Two shafts, one 64 metres deep and the other 43 metres, were sunk on the property in the early 1900's. In 1970, the area was explored as the Sirius claims by Canpac Minerals. In 1986 and 1987, the area was explored as the PF claims. Programs of geological mapping, prospecting, geochemical sampling and three diamond drill holes, totalling 1083.0 metres, were completed at this time.
