The Victory occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1130 metres on a south west trending ridge, approximately 3.2 kilometres west of the west end of Johnson Lake. Regionally, the area is in structurally complex metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks of the Paleozoic (Lower Cambrian and older(?) to Mississippian) Eagle Bay Assemblage. The assemblage has a complex deformational history involving multiple stages of thrust faulting and folding during the Jura-Cretaceous which produced strongly foliated and overturned rocks trending northwest and dipping northeast. These Paleozoic rocks are intruded by mid-Cretaceous granodiorite and quartz monzonite and Early Tertiary quartz-feldspar porphyry, basalt and lamprophyre dykes. These are all locally overlain by Miocene plateau lavas, now represented in the area by occasional erosional remnants. The Eagle Bay Assemblage rocks include andesitic volcanic rocks of the Devonian to Mississippian Foghorn Mountain Unit, greenstone and greenschists rocks of the Lower Cambrian Johnson Lake Unit, mudstone, siltstone, shale, fine clastic rocks of the Mississippian Slate Creek Unit, and limestone and calcareous sedimentary rocks of Lower Cambrian age. In 1989, a drill hole (V-6) yielded 0.583 per cent zinc over 3.00 metres (56.3 to 59.3 metres down-hole) from a zone of late cross-cutting quartz-carbonate veins with sphalerite in a weakly sericite, carbonate and hematite altered interbedded laminated mafic ash tuff and lesser graphitic siltstone (Assessment Report 19790). Work History In 1984, the area immediately north and north east were prospected and sampled as the S.B.L. 1-2 claims. During 1985 through 1987, Island Mining and Explorations Co. Ltd. completed programs of rock and soil sampling, geological mapping, a 2.5 line-kilometre ground electromagnetic survey and an airborne magnetic and electromagnetic survey on the S.B.L. 1 claim located immediately to the north east. In 1988, Minnova Inc. completed a 14.0 line-kilometre ground electromagnetic survey and a single drill hole on the Victory claim. A program of geological mapping, lithogeochemical and soil sampling and diamond drilling, totalling 459.7 metres in three holes, was completed the next year. In 1990, Minnova Inc. completed a further program of mapping, soil sampling and diamond drilling on the area.
