The Blais rare earth element (REE) showing is located on the north east slope of McLennan Peak, approximately 1.8 kilometres north of Kirbyville Lake. In 2009, J.R. Dahrouge acquired the Blais claims and collected two rock chip samples during a preliminary field program.
Regionally, the property lies within the Shuswap metamorphic complex along the northwestern margin of the Frenchman Cap Dome. The core of the dome is composed of a mixed paragneiss and orthogneiss succession of probable Aphebian age. The dome is mantled by unconformably overlying metasedimentary rocks consisting of quartzites, calcareous schists, marbles and pelitic schists, and intruded by carbonatites. Locally, rare earth element mineralization occurs in the extrusive Mount Grace carbonatite.
Two rock samples, collected in 2010, returned values of 466.4 parts per million niobium with 1642.76 parts per million total rare earth elements (sample 71738) and 1210 parts per million niobium with 2962.57 parts per million total rare earth elements (sample 71739; Assessment Report 31982).
