The Little Duncan and Panorama (Jedi) occurrence is located north of Newport (Deep) Creek and approximately 11 kilometres northwest of Vernon.
Regionally, the area is underlain by basaltic volcanics, mudstone, siltstone, shale and fine clastic sedimentary rocks of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group, which are in probable unconformable contact with Devonian to Triassic sedimentary and volcanic rocks of the Harper Ranch Group. Middle Jurassic granitic rocks intrude the Nicola and Harper Ranch groups and outliers of volcanic rocks of the Eocene Kamloops and Penticton groups overlie the older units.
Locally, a 1.5 to 1.8-metre wide quartz vein in argillite of the Nicola Group hosts disseminated galena, sphalerite, argentite, marcasite, pyrite, native sulphur and native gold. The vein strikes west-northwest with a gentle dip to the northwest and has been exposed for approximately 30 metres along strike. A second vein, located by Newport Creek, is reportedly well mineralized with galena, sphalerite and minor pyrite and chalcopyrite. Another zone of mineralization is reported approximately 800 metres upslope to the northeast and comprises a 1.5-metre wide shear zones with quartz veins hosting malachite and azurite with minor galena and argentite.
Galena is reported to carry approximately 34 grams of silver for each per cent lead, and representative sampling yielded approximately 3 to 4 grams ($2 to $3) per tonne gold (Geological Survey of Canada Summary Report 1931A).
In 1968, hand-picked grab samples yielded from 47.2 to 1114.9 grams per tonne silver, 0.17 to 33.20 per cent lead and trace to 34.80 per cent zinc with trace gold (Assessment Report 2552). The following year, two samples, each taken over 1.2 metres, yielded 123.1 and 92.3 grams per tonne silver, 2.82 and 3.27 per cent lead with 0.28 and 0.33 per cent zinc, respectively (Assessment Report 2552).
In 1983, a sample of galena in quartz from a shear zone exposed by trench assayed 0.3 gram per tonne gold and 126.5 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 12073).
In 1988, a mix of chip and grab samples over 9.0 metres of a trench averaged 0.05 gram per tonne gold and 5.6 grams per tonne silver, whereas a grab sample (88DTJ-72) assayed 0.14 gram per tonne gold, 190.0 grams per tonne silver and 3.03 per cent lead (Assessment Report 17664 and 17928).
The area has been explored since the late 1800s and by 1899, exploration work included a 10-metre shaft and 15-metre adit on the Little Duncan claim, and a 4-metre adit on the Panorama. The claims were Crown granted in 1901.
In 1969, Brown-Overton Mines Ltd. completed a program of rock and soil sampling and an 18.6 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey on the area as the May claims. In 1983, the area was prospected as the Ausi 1 claim. In 1984, MineQuest Exploration Associates Ltd. completed a program of geological mapping and rock, silt and soil sampling on the area as the Equesis property. In 1987 and 1988, Canova Resources Ltd. carried out programs of geological mapping; rock, silt and soil sampling; ground magnetometer and VLF-EM surveys and trenching on the area as the Vera claim group. In 1989 and 1990, Y-H Technical Services completed program of prospecting, rock and soil sampling and ground magnetic and electromagnetic (VLF) surveys the area as the Y-H 1-13 claims of Newport claim group.
