Capsule Geology

The Scotch occurrence area is underlain by a tightly folded and overturned? sequence of metavolcanic and metasedimentary rocks of the Devonian Skwaam Bay unit and Devonian and/or older? Woolford Creek unit, both of the Eagle Bay assemblage. The rocks exhibit a well developed foliation generally striking west and dipping between 25 and 30 degrees north.

Diamond drilling has intersected a stratigraphic sequence comprised of sericite chlorite phyllite, graphitic argillite, interbanded argillaceous marble and calcareous argillite, chlorite sericite schist, quartz sericite schist and calcareous argillaceous siltstone.

Stratabound and stratiform dispersed and massive sulphide mineralization has been discovered in several places on and near the property, as well as in drillholes. The predominant sulphide mineral is pyrrhotite, with lesser pyrite and variable amounts of sphalerite, galena and chalcopyrite.

A drillhole located 2000 metres west of the main mineralized area intersected minor interbands and stringers of pyrrhotite, pyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite and galena.

Work History

During 1920s, a series of at least 10 hand trenches were completed on the area.

In 1971, a program of soil sampling, a magnetometer survey and five drill holes, totalling 622.4 metres, were completed on the area. Diamond drilling yielded intercepts of up to 4.65 per cent copper, 16.5 grams per tonne silver and 1.37 grams per tonne gold over 0.5 metre in hole 71-2 (Ostler, J. (2017-11-10): The Scotch Creek Property).

In 1976, K.L Daughty staked the Scotch which was subsequently optioned by Brican Resources Ltd. and Craigmont Mines Ltd. who completed an airborne geophysical survey on the area. The following year, a program of soil sampling, ground magnetic and electromagnetic surveys and four diamond drill holes, totalling 509 metres, were completed. Diamond drilling yielded intercepts including 0.99 per cent copper, 16.1 grams per tonne silver and 0.34 gram per tonne gold over 3.0 metres and 0.32 per cent copper, 10.3 grams per tonne silver and 0.17 gram per tonne gold over 9.5 metres in hole SC-3 (Ostler, J. (2017-11-10): The Scotch Creek Property).

In 1979, Esso resources optioned the Scotch property and completed a program of ground magnetic and electromagnetic surveys and a single drill hole on the area. In 1983, Esso Resources completed a program of reconnaissance mapping and geochemical (silt and rock) sampling.

In 1986, Brican Resources completed a program of geophysical (magnetic, electromagnetic and gravity) surveys. In 1988, Brican completed six diamond drill holes, totalling 1220.4 metres, on the area. Drilling yielded intercepts of up to 2.42 per cent copper and 0.17 gram per tonne gold over 1.3 metres in hole 294-6 (Ostler, J. (2017-11-10): The Scotch Creek Property).

During 2010 through 2012, Signal Exploration Inc. completed programs of geological mapping and an induced polarization survey on the area as the Scotch Creek property. A massive sulphide block, weighing in excess of 90 kilograms and assume to have come from a former trench, assayed 0.545 per cent lead, 47.6 grams per tonne silver and 2.05 grams per tonne gold (Ostler, J. (2017-11-10): The Scotch Creek Property).

In 2017, the Scotch Creek property was examined by Zenith Exploration Inc.
