The Cruz property covers a newly discovered Sullivan-type silver-lead-zinc target. The claims were staked to cover several high-grade lead-zinc-silver mineralized boulders. Detailed prospecting in the area north of the high-grade boulders found a large, lead-zinc anomalous fragmental outcrop. The fragmental is strongly albitized and tourmalinized (George Cross News Letter No.161, 1995).
The Cruz property is underlain by a 3000 to 3500 metre thick sedimentary flysh sequence of alternating siltstones, argillites, and quartzites of the Proterozoic Middle Aldridge Formation. Two gabbro sills, each approximately 100 metres thick, intrude the sequence. The structural character of the property is dominated by a large, property wide anticline and numerous northeast and northwest striking normal faults. A thick package of fine siliceous and carbonaceous sediments including the Creston, Kitchener, and Van Creek formations overlie the Aldridge Formation to the north.
Three vent structures have been located on the claims, including the Cruz, the Midway, and the Super Nova; the last two are 5 and 10 kilometres southwest of the Cruz respectfully. The Cruz vent is a small hydrothermal vent structure consisting of a crosscutting pipe-like body of intensely sericitized and albitized Aldridge fragmental rocks. Beds of tourmaline are present in sediments adjacent to the vent structure. The vent has been explored with four diamond drill holes which traced a 4-metre-thick mineralized quartzite unit for 500 metres to the west and 100 metres to the east of the vent. Mineralization in the bed consisted of sub-ore grade disseminated sphalerite, galena and pyrrhotite.
Ascot Resources Ltd. optioned the property from Chapleau Resources Ltd. and Wild Horse Gold Corp. in 1998. They terminated the option in August 1999.
In 1995, 4 holes, totalling 2018.5 metres were drilled (Assessment Report 24401). Chapleau planned drilling in 1999.
In 1987, rock chip samples from well cuttings assayed up to 0.493 per cent lead at a depth of 1149 metres (sample R8717536), while sample R8717544 assayed 0.283 per cent zinc at a depth of 1179 metres (Drillhole Moyie d-8-c; Assessment Report 16681).
In 1987 and 1988, Cominco completed a program of rock chip sampling from well cuttings. In 1995, Chapleau Resources completed four diamond drill holes, totalling 2018.5 metres. In 1996, a single drillhole was completed to the south to test a soil geochemical anomaly. In 1997, a soil sampling program was completed. Ascot Resources Ltd. optioned the property from Chapleau Resources Ltd. and Wild Horse Gold Corp. in 1998 and completed programs of soil sampling and geological mapping on the property. They terminated the option in August 1999. In 2006, Saint Eugene Mining completed 697 line- kilometres of airborne combined magnetic and electromagnetic surveys on the area. In 2013, Kootenay Silver completed a program of geological mapping and rock sampling on the area.
In 1992, a 2.9-line-kilometre ground magnetic and an 11.1 line-kilometre ground electromagnetic survey were completed on the area as the Sun claims. The following year, Cominco completed a soil sampling program on the area. In 2013, Kootenay Silver completed a program of geological mapping and rock sampling on the area as the Sunrise Surprise claim. In 2018, a total of 240 soil samples were collected for pXRF analysis from the Spike's Big Adventure (SBA) property, just north of the Spike occurrence (082GSW092) (Assessment Report 37847). In 2019, total of 77 rock samples and 486 soil samples were collected on the SBA property on behalf of owner Craig Kennedy (Assessment Report 38387). The SBA property covered parts of the previous Cruz property claims that were explored in the 1990's and early 2000's. Samples in 2019 were collected in the area of the Cruz, Sunrise Surprise (082GSW091), and Spike (formerly Sun 4-5) (082GSW092). Soil samples were collected about 1 kilometre to the northeast and east-southeast of the Cruz MINFILE plot. Prospecting in 2019 was also done over a large area from west of Stone Creek east through Sundown and Sunrise creeks.
In 2020, a program of rock and soil sampling was conducted by Kootenay Resources Inc. on their Moyie Anticline property utilizing both laboratory and portable XRF analytical techniques (Assessment Report 39483). During the 2020 field program more than 1420 XRF readings were taken and compiled. Several areas with anomalous lead, zinc, copper as well as gold were found during the program. The Moyie Anticline property covered parts of the 082FSE and 082GSW map areas.
