The Helen No. 2 (L. 1151) occurrence is located on Grouse Ridge, east of Malde Creek and a few hundred metres north of the International Boundary.

Regionally, the area is underlain predominantly by leucocratic granite of the Middle Eocene Sheppard Intrusion that has intruded basaltic volcanic rocks and sediments of the Lower Jurassic Elise Formation (Rossland Group) and fine clastic sedimentary rocks of the Carboniferous to Permian Mount Roberts Formation, which are in contact with a large mass of conglomerate of the Cretaceous Sophie Mountain Formation to the north.

Locally, swarms of quartz veins are hosted in a leucocratic granite. The veins range in width from a few centimetres to a few metres. Two parallel veins near the International Boundary, striking 270 degrees and dipping steeply to the north, were found to carry trace pyrite and galena with gold values. The veins are traceable for 275 metres and range up to 30 centimetres in width. Prior to the turn of the 19th century, a vein ranging from 0.5 to 3.7 metres in width was reported to occur on the Helen group of three claims on Grouse Mountain.

In 1979, two samples (M-3 and M-2) of the two parallel veins yielded values of 192.9 and 54.2 grams per tonne gold, 98.7 and 20.6 grams per tonne silver and 0.15 and 0.27 per cent lead with 0.02 and 0.15 per cent copper, respectively (Assessment Report 7796). Other samples yielded up to 0.1 per cent molybdenum (sample 1-HS-1), whereas a sample (MU-1) described as monzodiorite, assayed 2.0 grams per tonne gold, 0.7 gram per tonne silver, 0.01 per cent nickel, 0.02 per cent chromium, 0.015 per cent niobium with 3 parts per million uranium and 28 parts per million thorium (Assessment Report 7796). Most of the above samples appear to have been taken on the Helen No. 2 Crown grant (Lot 1151).

By 1987, an incline shaft was driven for 24 metres and was to connect with a 61-metre tunnel at a depth of 91 metres (Hodges, 1897). The adit was reported to show from 0.3 to 0.6 metre of ore assaying high in gold and containing some silver and lead.

In 1979, a program of prospecting, sampling and minor trenching was completed on the area as the Malde claim.

In 1990, Antelope Resources Inc. completed a program of geological mapping on the area as the Kay 1-8 claims. In 2009, a 0.5 line-kilometre ground electromagnetic (VLF) survey was completed on the area.
