The past-producing mine is located approximately 9.7 kilometres northeast of Ymir on Wildhorse Creek, a small south-flowing tributary of Ymir Creek.

The area is underlain by granodiorite of the Middle Jurassic Nelson Intrusions, argillite of the Lower Jurassic Ymir Group occurs as a roof pendant within the Nelson Batholith.

The deposit is composed of an east-trending vein system hosted primarily in argillite but also in granodiorite. The vein is irregular in width but tends to be wider to the west and narrower to the east, where it becomes a system of thin streaks and fissures within a zone approximately 1.5 metres wide. The vein, striking 090 to 110 degrees and dipping 60 to 75 degrees north, has been traced on surface for 204 metres. The vein contains quartz gangue with thin, discontinuous streaks of pyrite, galena, sphalerite and pyrrhotite. The mineralization is not confined to the sheared vein, but it is present in the silicified granodiorite hangingwall and footwall rocks as irregular masses and disseminations of pyrite, galena, and sphalerite. Abundant sericite has formed along foliation (?) or shear planes within the vein.

In 1928, a weighted average assay indicates that the vein hosts approximately 16 grams per tonne gold over a width of 4.73 metres including both vein and wallrock (Ministry of Mines Annual Report 1928, page 332).

In 1985, sampling of the no. 8 adit west drift yielded up to 37.0 grams per tonne gold and 158.0 grams per tonne silver over 45 centimetres at 6.9 metres east of the drift face; 23.9 grams per tonne gold and 64.0 grams per tonne silver over 50 centimetres at 39 metres from the raise and 53.6 grams per tonne gold with 53.0 grams per tonne silver over 30 centimetres from a location 47.1 metres from the raise (Property File - W. G. Hainsworth [1986-02-07]: Report on the Blackcock Claim Group, Nelson Mining Division). Sampling of the east drift yielded up to 10.5 grams per tonne gold and 27.4 grams per tonne silver over 30 centimetres from the north portion of the drift face, located approximately 50.1 metres from the raise (Property File - W. G. Hainsworth [1986-02-07]: Report on the Blackcock Claim Group, Nelson Mining Division). This work is reported to indicate an average of 18.2 grams per tonne gold with 73.9 grams per tonne silver over a length of 15 metres in the west drift and 16.8 grams per tonne gold with 31.8 grams per tonne silver over 50.1 metres in the east drift (Property File - W. G. Hainsworth [1986-02-07]: Report on the Blackcock Claim Group, Nelson Mining Division).

In 1986, highlights of diamond drilling yielded 5.0 grams per tonne gold and 16.52 grams per tonne silver over 10.18 metres, including 10.6 grams per tonne gold and 28.0 grams per tonne silver over 4.18 metres of vuggy granodiorite with quartz veinlets hosting pyrite and galena in hole 86-001; and 6.3 grams per tonne gold and 18.8 grams per tonne silver over 2.63 metres in hole 86-002 (Property File - O'Hara Resources [1986-11-09]: 1986 Diamond Drill Hole Record - Blackcock). These holes were reported to prove the updip extension of the vein above the stoped area of the no. 8 adit.

Surface sampling, performed in 1986, from two trenches located 63 and 77 metres west of the no. 8 adit portal yielded 15.4 and 8.8 grams per tonne gold with 39.3 and 38.0 grams per tonne silver over 30 and 25 centimetres, respectively (Property File - W. G. Hainsworth [1986-11-07]: Letter RE: Blackcock Property Program Update, Ymir B.C.). Also at this time, sampling of the main shaft, located 123 metres west of the no. 8 adit, yielded up to 40.1 grams per tonne gold and 282.2 grams per tonne silver with 23 per cent combined lead-zinc over 25 centimetres from the collar of the shaft, whereas nine samples from the shaft over a distance of 30 metres yielded an average of 6.2 grams per tonne gold over an average width of 1.26 metres (Property File - W. G. Hainsworth [1986-11-07]: Letter RE: Blackcock Property Program Update, Ymir B.C.). Sampling of the other workings yielded 9.4 grams per tonne gold and 35.9 grams per tonne silver over 1.9 metres from the wall of the raise in the no. 3 workings; 1.7 grams per tonne gold and 3.3 grams per tonne silver over 0.6 metre from the no. 2 adit and 36.1 grams per tonne gold over 1.5 metres from the no.1 shaft (Property File - W. G. Hainsworth [1986-11-07]: Letter RE: Blackcock Property Program Update, Ymir B.C.).

During 1899 through 1942, approximately 2600 tonnes of ore mined from the vein produced 31 850 grams of gold, 97 260 grams of silver, 43 163 kilograms of lead and 36 821 kilograms of zinc.

The deposit was discovered in 1896, with underground development and production occurring from 1899 to 1942, including at least two shafts, totalling 48 metres, and three adits extending from elevations of approximately 1245 to 1303 metres. Underground workings include 210 metres of development along the strike of the vein on the main level and a 60 metre drift, located 60 metres below the main workings. The workings follow the vein along strike for 198 metres.

In 1985 and 1986, O’Hara Resources completed programs of geochemical sampling, geophysical surveys, trenching, underground development of a 150-metre drift and a 60-metre vertical raise to the no. 8 level and five diamond drill holes, totalling 227.2 metres, on the area as the Glitter 1-2 claims. The underground development work is reported to have intersected a mineralized zone hosting low gold values, approximately 12 metres wide with undetermined length and depth.
