The Golden Belle claim (Lot 9917) is located at 1676 metres elevation on the east side of Clyde Creek a tributary of Sheep Creek some 11.2 kilometres southeast of Salmo. The Clyde Belt property (082FSW056) adjoins to the west.

The showings were staked in 1906 and reportedly owned by 1910 by Amalgamated Sheep Creek Gold Mines, Limited although there is no record of this as a Canadian incorporation. Development work was carried out in two adits until 1912 when the property was sold by Sheriff's sale. The upper adit was driven westerly on the vein for 57 metres. The lower adit, 46 metres below the upper and 91 metres east of it, comprised about 116 metres of drifts and crosscuts. The Golden Bell and other claims were Crown-granted in 1916 to D.G. Williams and F.L. Murdoff.

Gold Belt Mining Company, Limited held an option on the property in 1933. Work included trenching and 59 metres of drifting, crosscutting and raising. A car load of ore was reportedly shipped during the year.

Kootenay Belle Gold Mines, Limited in 1940 acquired an option on the Golden Belle group of 10 Crown-operated claims. Work during 1940-41 included the testing of 4 veins by 921 metres of drifting and crosscutting, with negative results. The Golden Belle vein was tested at a depth of 152 metres below No. 2 adit from the Clyde No. 3 adit of the adjacent Clyde Belt property (082FSW056). The option was subsequently abandoned and the property reverted to the Williams and Murdoff families, who still held the claims in 1949.

The Golden Belle is a fissure vein typical of the Sheep Creek Camp deposits. The occurrence is within white quartzites of the Upper and Middle Nugget Members of the Lower Cambrian Quartzite Range Formation (correlative with rocks of the Hamill Group). The vein varies from very narrow up to about 1 metre wide containing quartz and crushed country rock between two fairly well defined walls. The vein is host to oxidized sulphides (limonite) and some free gold. The Golden Belle is about 260 metres south of the Motherlode (Bulletin 31, Figure 1).
