The Club (Slocan Bob) occurrence is located in the headwaters of Scorpion Creek, approximately 3.5 kilometres northeast of Slocan.
The area is underlain by granodioritic intrusive rocks of the Middle Jurassic Nelson Batholith and granitic intrusives of the Paleocene to Eocene Sheppard, Tuzo and Shingle Creek intrusions. To the west, Carboniferous to Permian undivided metamorphic rocks are exposed.
Locally, two quartz veins are hosted in crushed granitic rocks that appear to be related to the Nelson Batholith. The main vein, referred to as the Slocan Bob vein, varies from 0.3 to 2.4 metres in width, strikes northeast and dips northwest at approximately 30 degrees. Mineralization consists of galena, pyrite and chalcopyrite. Rich samples have reportedly been obtained from a shallow inclined shaft sunk on this vein.
A second quartz vein is reported across a small creek from the main vein and workings. The vein is approximately 1.5 metres wide and strikes 126 degrees.
Work History
The Club property was first prospected in the 1890s in conjunction with the nearby Republic No.2 (MINFILE 082FNW168) occurrence. In 1904, a shipment of 4.5 tonnes of ore from the property produced 8367 grams of silver and 62 grams of gold.
During 1972 through 1979, Tandem Resources Ltd. held the property, including the Republic No.2 (MINFILE 082FNW168) occurence. Exploration programs included geochemical sampling, geological mapping, trenching and an induced polarization survey. In 1976, a grab sample assayed 986.3 grams per tonne silver and 6.0 grams per tonne gold (Property File - D.W. Tully [1976-10-18]: Geological Report on the Republic Property).
In 2011, Moose Mountain Technical Services, on the behalf of Rainbow Resources Inc., completed a program of prospecting and geochemical (rock and soil) sampling on the area as the Big Strike property. A sample (12576) assayed 14 grams per tonne silver, 1.470 per cent lead and 0.728 per cent zinc (Morris, R.J. (2012-03-27): Property of Merit Report– West Kootenay Properties – Big Strike Project).
