The Wet area is largely underlain by the Triassic Brooklyn Group with exposures of Upper Paleozoic Attwood and Knob Hill groups also mapped in the area. Rocks are reported to be greenstone of volcanic origin. The greenstone in this area hosts several small shear zone sulphide-quartz lenses with copper and gold values to 1.2 per cent copper and 0.57 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 17090). These shear-quartz vein systems are limited in number and extent.
In the late 1960s, Granby staked the Hope-Wet-Eagle property, which straddled Highway 3; the Hope grid covered the Wolfard area (082ESE206) and the Wet and Eagle grids were east of July Creek. A ground magnetometer survey was completed in 1969, as well as a program of geological mapping. In 1970, an IP survey was done.
The April claim group was staked in 1976 and covered the Wolfard area and a little of the original Granby ground east of July Creek. These claims were optioned to Tofino Mines Ltd (which later became Banqwest Resources Ltd.). Tofino/Banqwest carried out a significant amount of geological, geochemical and geophysical work over during the period 1976-84. During the period 1979-1982, Banqwest carried out soil and rock sampling plus ground magnetometry over a number of isolated grids on the property.
The eastern portion of what had been held as the April claims by Tofino/Banqwest, including the Wolfard area and some of the Wet and Eagle grid areas east of July Creek, was staked by J. Carson in the late 1980s and optioned to Zephyr Resources (which later became Mercantile Gold Corp.). Zephyr Resources completed a wide spaced geochemical survey plus minor geophysics (VLF) over a portion of their claims, in 1988.
During 1996 and 1997, Donald Rippon staked a large number of claims in the area, and optioned them to Century Gold Corp. as the Royal Attwood property. During 1997, Century Gold Corp. completed a program of grid work (about 100 line kilometres), soil, silt and rock geochemistry, geophysics (ground magnetometry) and limited geological mapping. A total of almost 4,000 soil samples were collected from the property. Most or all of Century Gold’s work seems to have occurred on that part of their property to the west of July Creek and did not cover the Wet and Eagle parts of the old Granby claims. See Wolfard (082ESE206) for a more detailed overview of the area history and related Assessment Reports.
During 2008 through 2012, Grizzly Discoveries Inc. completed programs of geochemical sampling, geological mapping and ground geophysical surveys on the area as the Attwood area of the Greenwood property.
In 2009, a rock sample (09BMP155) from a small adit assayed 1.245 grams per tonne gold, 36.9 grams per tonne silver and 3.95 per cent copper, while other samples yielded values of up to 0.513 gram per tonne gold, 59.9 grams per tonne silver, 4.67 per cent copper, 3.30 per cent lead and 8.65 per cent zinc (Dufresne, M. (2013-11-25): Technical Report for the Greenwood Gold Project).
In 2011, a grab sample (11TCP001) collected near a shaft and blast pit assayed 0.522 gram per tonne gold, 319 grams per tonne silver, 0.48 per cent zinc and 3.25 per cent copper, while other samples yielded values of up to 2.330 grams per tonne gold, 89.2 grams per tonne silver, 3.48 per cent copper, 2.97 per cent lead and 2.18 per cent zinc (Dufresne, M. (2013-11-25): Technical Report for the Greenwood Gold Project).
