Capsule Geology

On the Enterprise property Middle Jurassic granitic rocks intrude greenstones and tuffs of the Carboniferous to Permian Mount Roberts Formation. These are cut by porphyritic syenites of the Eocene Coryell Plutonic Suite.

Fractures and shears contain quartz lenses mineralized with galena, sphalerite, chalcopyrite and pyrite. An adit on the Huckleberry claim (Lot 14564) at 1448 metres elevation is driven 65 metres in a direction of 240 degrees in limy sheared greenstone. At 42, 53 and 58 metres from the portal are drifts driven 17, 12 and 12 metres, respectively, following small quartz veins in shears. At the face of the third drift is a winze and a stope that tested shearing to about 4.5 metres above the level. Vein widths vary from 15 to 76 centimetres wide. On the Enterprise claim (Lot 14563) there is a shaft and adit that are not accessible (ca. 1936). On the Castleton claim (Lot 14571) is a shaft about 6 metres deep on a narrow fracture, and 15 metres lower at 1265 metres elevation an adit reported to be driven in 1912. The adit is driven southerly from a point about 18 metres above the creek. At 10 metres from the portal the adit intersects a narrow and variable fracturing containing quartz mineralized with pyrite and chalcopyrite, and is cut and disturbed by both mafic dikes and fault slips. The vein varies from 15 to 30 centimetres wide.

Production in 1932 from the Enterprise and in 1939 from the Castleton, 800 metres to the north, totalled 8024 grams of silver, 871 grams of gold, 960 kilograms of lead and 1671 kilograms of zinc from 24 tonnes.

In 1970, Placid Oil Company conducted geological mapping, geophysical and geochemical surveys and drilling of 5 holes totalling 445.6 metres. Prominent Resources Corporation conducted surveys and sampling in 1985. In 1992, Crown Resources Corp. conducted an airborne geophysical survey in the area.

In 2006, Astral Mining Corporation conducted a helicopter-borne geophysical (electromagnetic) survey on the area as a part of the JJ property.
