Peak. The area is underlain by calc-alkaline volcanics and sedimentary rocks of the Lower Cretaceous Taylor Creek Group and undivided volcanic rocks of the Upper Cretaceous Powell Creek Formation. Quartz dioritic intrusive rocks of the Late Cretaceous Anvil Mountain suite outcrop to the north. Locally, at least nine zones (Far Side, Near Side, D&O, Copper Cliff, Crater (Buhdayduh), Chikapow, Acid Leach, South Acid Leach and Baggins) of copper mineralization have been identified over a distance of approximately 2.5 kilometres in a northeast- southwest direction and on either side of the ridge. These were previously explored as the Haho and Ravioli Ridge occurrences. Mineralization consists primarily of malachite, azurite, bornite, chalcopyrite, chalcocite and native copper in quartz-carbonate-epidote veins hosted by sheared hornblende plagioclase porphyry. Tetrahedrite is also reported at the Far Side zone. The shear zones are quartz, sericite and limonite- altered, while the host porphyry shows argillic and propylitic alteration. The mineralized zones appear to be structurally controlled, occurring in, or proximal to, east-west striking fault zones and are indicative of a sub-volcanic Cu-Au-Ag (As-Sb) style of mineralization. In 1982, a sample (AS 1012) of malachite mineralization from the Crater area assayed 2.97 per cent copper and 17.8 grams per tonne silver, while a sample (AS 1223) of silicified breccia with azurite from the Far Side area assayed 0.47 per cent copper and 112.2 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 10774). In 1998, a grab sample (361) from the Far Side or Near Side areas assayed 1.22 per cent copper (Assessment Report 25726). In 1999, a sampling yielded up to 0.539 per cent copper, 121 grams per tonne silver and 0.229 per cent antimony from the a trench on the Far Side zone; 1.33 per cent copper, 0.542 per cent antimony, 0.125 per cent zinc and 71.2 grams per tonne silver from a sub-crop sample on the D&O zone; 1.36 per cent copper from the Acid Leach zone; 4.09 per cent copper and 18.6 grams per tonne silver from the Crater zone; 3.20 per cent copper, greater than 1.0 per cent antimony, 0.285 per cent zinc, 90.4 grams per tonne silver and 0.15 gram per tonne gold from the South Acid Leach zone and 0.476 per cent copper and 2.4 grams per tonne silver from the Chikapow zone (Assessment Report 26258). Diamond drilling, performed at the same time, yielded up to 0.301 per cent copper and 1.6 grams per tonne silver over 1.0 metre from the Crater zone (Assessment Report 26258). In 2008, a sample (814205) from the Near Side zone assayed 5.8 per cent copper, 0.616 per cent zinc, greater than 1.0 per cent antimony, 955 grams per tonne silver and 0.29 gram per tonne gold; a select grab sample (813263) from the Buhdayduh (Crater) zone assayed 0.775 per cent copper and 10.2 grams per tonne silver; a grab sample (814201) from the Acid Leach zone yielded 0.285 per cent copper and 0.22 gram per tonne gold, and a grab sample (813262) from the Baggins zone yielded 0.378 per cent zinc and 12.2 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 31141). The area has been historically explored in conjunction with the nearby Charlie (MINFILE 092O 043) occurrence. During 1981 through 1983, Suncor Resources completed programs of rock, silt and soil sampling, geological mapping and ground geophysical surveys on the area as the Cougar claims. In 1998, Pellaire Gold Mines completed a program of rock, silt and soil sampling on the area. In 1999, NWC Explorations completed a program of geochemical sampling, geological mapping, a 188 line-kilometre airborne geophysical survey and three diamond drill holes, totalling 660.3 metres, on the area as the Northwest Copper property. One drill hole was located on the D&O and Acid Leach zones, while the other two were located on the Crater and Chikapow zones. In 2005, Galore Resources completed a program of soil sampling, a 61.8 line-kilometre ground geophysical survey and a 188 line-kilometre airborne geophysical survey on the area. In 2008, Valor Resources completed a program of geochemical sampling, geological mapping and a lone drill hole, totalling 310.3 metres, on the Acid Leach zone. The following year, program of rock, silt and soil sampling was completed. During 2009 through 2014, Zelon Chemicals completed programs of rock, soil and biogeochemical sampling, minor trenching and a ground geophysical survey on the area.
