In 1990, work consisted of hand panning and/or shovelling gravel into a 1.5-metre long sluice set in the Fraser River current. Gravels sampled were primarily within the top 25 to 30 centimetres of the floodplain. A total of 15 plus grams of extremely fine gold was recovered. Samples on the east bank of the river in areas of shallow bedrock yielded the majority of the gold.
