The area is primarily underlain by coarse clastic rocks of Hadrynian Horsethief Creek Group and quartzites to quartz arenite sedimentary rocks of Middle Proterozoic Mount Nelson Formation (Purcell Supergroup). Locally, galena, sphalerite and chalcopryrite mineralization occurs over a 100-metre strike length in two dolomitic limestone zones, separated by 100 metres of phyllite and argillite. The mineralized zone is reported to be up to 2-metres thick along the western most section. In 1995, a sample (B81216) assayed 7.73 per cent lead, 1.59 per cent zinc and 119 grams per tonne silver, while another sample (JODI 7), taken immediately south east of the claims, assayed 0.097 per cent copper, 1.71 per cent lead, 0.203 per cent antimony and 184.4 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 24287). During 1978 through 1984, Cominco completed programs of soil and silt sampling and geological mapping on the area as the Baker claims. This work centered on the Baker (MINFILE 082FNE004) molybdenite occurrence to the north. The stratabound zinc was discovered by G. Johnstone in 1995, while prospecting with a Prospector Assistance grant. A program of soil and rock sampling was completed during that time. During 2005 through 2007, Mountain Star Resources completed programs of soil sampling, diamond drilling, totalling 1165.8 metres in six holes, and a 110.0 line-kilometre airborne geophysical survey on the area as the Lydy claims.
