Capsule Geology

On the western shore of Nelson Lake, a silver-lead occurrence is shown on the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) Map 19-1957.

The area is underlain by the northwest trending contact of Permian rocks of the Boundary Ranges Metamorphic Suite to the west, with Early Jurassic granodiorite of the Aishihik Plutonic Suite to the east.

A grab sample from sulphide-rich veins occurring in highly deformed pelitic schists and marbles was collected by a BC Geological Survery field crew in 1989. These are located about 2 kilometres to the southwest of the original GSC Nelson Lake plot. This sample (MMI 89-62-1) graded 4.6 grams per tonne gold, 198 grams per tonne silver, 3.9 per cent lead and 1.25 per cent copper (Open File 90-4, Sheet 3).
