The area of the Harper Reed showing is underlain by various intrusive units that intrude basalt and mafic volcaniclastic rocks of the Upper Triassic Stuhini Group. These Middle to Late Triassic intrusive units include diorite, gabbro, syenite, and pyroxenite. Major northeast trending faults divide the map area into separate blocks (Assessment Report 33330).

Rock sample 1725970 assayed 1.34 per cent copper (Assessment Report 33330).

In 2011 and 2012 Teck Resources Limited conducted a number of programs and surveys on its Eagle property which covered 61240.65 hectares, roughly bounded by Barrington River on the south, Hackett River on the North, Sheslay River on the west and Tahltan Lake, Tahltan River and Lovell Creek on the East. A total of 94 stream sediment samples, 208 rock samples and 2 U/Pb geochronology samples were collected in 2011; and 14 rock samples were collected in 2012. An airborne ZTEM survey conducted by Geotech Ltd. totalled 1800 kilometers in 2011 and 2906 kilometres in 2012 for a total of 4706 kilometres. A further airborne magnetic survey in 2011 totalled 1266 kilometres. Teck identified several areas of weak chalcopyrite mineralization including new MINFILE occurrences: Harper Reed, Gabb1, Gabb2, Hackett River SW and Stone Lake Molly.
