The Straight-up occurrence is located 34.7 kilometres southeast of the town of Dease Lake and 22.3 kilometres east of Highway 37.
The showing consists of extensive gossans in the northern end of the Andalusite Peak property, on the ridges northwest of Glacial Lake. Bedrock geology is indicated to be undivided volcanic rocks of Upper Triassic-Lower Jurassic age. The rocks are described as being highly leached, and to date sampling has failed to yield significant base or precious metal concentrations. The alteration mineralogy, strong apparent leaching and high aluminum concentrations are consistent with strong acidic alteration, but exposed copper mineralization is sparse.
The Andalusite Peak property contains zones of variable intensity quartz-sericite-clay alteration (phyllic and argillic) and includes the And Ginger (104I 140), Joyce (104I 049), Gentleman-Julep (104I 153), and Tennessee (104I 152) showings. The Andalusite Peak property is centred on one of three known lithocaps in a 27-kilometre-long belt of intermediate to advanced argillic alteration (Fieldwork 2016). The other two have seen more advanced exploration that has identified porphyry-style alteration and copper-gold-molybdenum mineralization below the lithocap (Kaizen Discovery's Tanzilla property 8 kilometres to the northwest, and Teck's McBride property 13 kilometres to the southeast).
In 2008, Paget Moly Corp. conducted a stream sediment and rock sampling program on the JD property (later the Andalusite Peak property). Sixty-four rock and silt samples were collected for analysis (Assessment Report 30590).
In 2017, exploration of the Andalusite Peak property included prospecting, the collection of 24 rock samples, and some geological mapping. Assays defined two new gold-silver-copper occurrences, the Julep showing and Gentleman vein. The Julep showing is about 140 metres southwest of the Gentleman vein.
In July 2018, Triumph Gold Corp. conducted two days of prospecting and alteration mapping on the Andalusite Peak property. Sampling in 2018 focussed on the area south of the alteration zone and was conducted on two ridge lines, the one that hosts the Julep and Gentleman showings (Gentleman-Julep Trend, 104I 153), and another parallel ridge 1.5 kilometres to the west where historical grab samples assayed up to 3.04 per cent copper, 68.9 grams per tonne silver and 0.23 gram per tonne gold, referred to as the Tennessee Trend (104I 152) (Assessment Report 30590).
In 2019, Rio Tinto Exploration Canada Inc. entered into an option agreement with Triumph Gold for the Andalusite Peak property and the claims were transferred Rio Tinto. In 2019, Rio Tinto conducted an exploration program consisting of reconnaissance sampling by collecting samples for geochemical characterization and TerraSpec hyperspectral analyses. Samples were collected from mineralized, veined and/or altered outcrop, subcrop, and proximal float. A few stream sediment samples were also collected from local drainages.
