The area of the Nok West occurrence is underlain by an Early Jurassic monzodioritic to gabbroic pluton of the Texas Creek Plutonic Suite. The pluton is in contact with andesitic rock of the Upper Triassic Stuhini Group a few kilometres to the east. A sample from a 1-centimetre wide monzonite-hosted quartz vein with chalcopyrite and malachite graded 0.28 per cent copper, 1.4 grams per tonne silver and 20 parts per billion gold (Sample 90G-22-F04, Assessment Report 21073).

In 1990, Consolidated Golden Trump Resources Ltd. and Acorn Resources Ltd conducted an exploration program on their Nok property and discovered several showings including the Nok West. See Nok (104G 486), Nok North (104G 454) about 1.3 kilometres to the southeast, and the Anuk RB 14 showing (104G 047) for related information.
