The GJ East area is underlain by Upper Triassic Stuhini Group sediments intruded by dikes, sills and plutons of Early Jurassic age (Open File 1997-3). Property rocks are described as cherty mafic ash tuffs. Contact with the Early Jurassic Groat stock occurs to the immediate north and west of the showing area.

In 2005, Canadian Gold Hunter drilled four widely spaced holes over a 1050 metre strike length to test coincident chargeability, magnetic and copper-gold geochemical anomalies collectively referred to as the GJ East zone. The holes all intersected weakly altered monzodiorite of the Groat stock. Mineralization encountered was limited to weak disseminated pyrite with occasional disseminated, fracture or quartz vein hosted chalcopyrite. The best intersection yielded 0.024 per cent copper, 1.470 grams per tonne gold and 10.2 grams per tonne silver from a shear zone in hole CGH-05-051 (Giroux, G.H., Peatfield, G.R., Cathro, M.S. (2016-02-24): Technical Report on the Donnelly-GJ Deposit Area, GJ Property).
