The Momma Bear area is underlain by andesitic rock of the Upper Triassic Stuhini Group. A pluton of Triassic to Jurassic diorite to granodiorite intrudes the strata a few hundred metres to the southwest.
The Momma Bear showing was sampled by Teck Corporation in 1990 and 1991, but no description was provided. Two rock samples collected from the Momma Bear showing assayed 1.31 and 2.59 grams per tonne gold and three samples yielded moderate to strong copper values of 0.50 to 1.50 per cent copper (Assessment Report 20550 and Assessment Report 22028).
In 2010, eight rock samples were collected in the vicinity of Momma Bear showing. These samples comprise rusty weathering Stuhini rock with disseminated and fracture hosted pyrite. All but two of the 2010 samples yielded background values for gold, copper and silver. A one metre long chip sample yielded 0.200 gram per tonne gold with 0.17 per cent copper and a nearby grab sample assayed 0.448 gram per tonne gold and 0.52 per cent copper (Assessment Report 31838).
