The Whip occurrence is located near Diablo Peak on the south side of Chain Creek, a tributary of Ball Creek.
The area is underlain by cherts, volcanics and volcano-sedimentary tuffs of the Triassic Stuhini Group with a number of small intrusive felsic dikes and plugs.
Locally, the area of the Diablo Peak is strongly sheared with a number of rusty veins and stained outcrops.
In 1990 and 1991, Total Energold completed programs of prospecting and geochemical sampling on the Whip claims. Sample 6855 from an 0.80 metre brecciated shear, with hematitic veinlets and traces of pyrite, returned 3.53 grams per tonne gold and 141 parts per million copper (Assessment Report 22045).
