The Stairway showing is located on a northeast facing ridge side south of Bronson Creek. It is 101 kilometres northwest of Stewart, B.C. and 5.5 kilometres southeast of the Bronson Airstrip on Iskut River.

It lies in the northwest of the Stikine Terrane and is underlain by metasediments and metavolcanics of the Upper Triassic –Lower Jurassic Stuhini and Hazelton Groups. The emplacement of a series of Early Jurassic (195-190 Ma) plutons in the area, controlled by the regional Sky fault system, is interpreted to have been the driver for widespread porphyry and epithermal related mineralization within the northwest trending Bronson Corridor.

The Stairway Zone is part of a vein complex, described as a series of yellow-brown gossanous shear zones that exhibit intense phyllic alteration (addition of quartz-sericite-pyrite). The shear zones are easily identified in the field from the dark grey siltstone and argillite host rocks that exhibit variable silicification and weak disseminated pyrite. Silicification in the host rock is typically more abundant adjacent to the shear zones. The shear zones exhibit trends that are similar to the Snip-Bronson mineral occurrences. The vein complex can be easily identified from the air across several drainages south of Bronson Creek, trending approximately 310 degrees with a strike length of approximately 300 metres within the Bronson claim block. The vein complex is observed to continue off the claim block to the northwest. Within the claim block, phyllic alteration can be variable along strike with the most intense alteration occurring in the northwest segment of the vein complex. Electromagnetic conductors that were measured during a 1989 geophysical survey align with the trend of the vein complex and are inferred to share a positive correlation. Refer to WOLVERINE showing (104B 206), 2 kilometres southeast, for further information.

In 2017, Imperial Metals Corp conducted a program consisting of 96 rock chip and outcrop samples in an area adjacent to the Stairway Creek drainage. Gold mineralization in this area is typically low, ranging from 1 to 10 parts per billion. Nine samples documented gold values greater than 100 parts per billion, two of which, reported multiple grams of gold. Samples 780769 and 780620 document 20.5 grams per tonne and 2.3 grams per tonne Au respectively. Both samples documented phyllic alteration and intense gossan-like oxidation (Assessment Report 37498).
